We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2018 Excellence Awards! The awards honor two organizations and one individual in three categories based on innovative applications of CBORD systems and service to the CBORD community. Nominations were submitted by colleagues, peers, and CBORD team members, and winners were chosen by committee.
Nominees include organizations from the Healthcare, Higher Education, and Senior Living industries and represent achievements in creating unique solutions using CBORD technology to serve their customers.
The One CBORD Award recipient exemplifies integrated planning and foresight in linking multiple CBORD systems together across an organization to deliver a comprehensive, community-wide solution. The winner is:
Texas Woman’s University, Denton, TX
Under the direction of Beth Lewis, Texas Woman’s University has grown their CBORD systems far beyond what management possibly could have expected. This has included replacing competitive systems to expand Odyssey PCSTM, Oracle MICROS®, and CS AccessTM. During this process, Beth Lewis and the TWU Team standardized card operations, access, security solutions, and food service to include the TWU Dallas and TWU Houston campuses.
The Visionary Award recognizes the creative uses of CBORD solutions by an organization, and honors excellence in innovative applications of CBORD systems. The winner is:
Banner Health POSC, Mesa, AZ
The Banner Health Patient Order Service Center (POSC) created an innovative centralized contact center using CBORD Room Service Choice® for 11 facilities handling over 1.4 million inbound calls. New standardization processes allow customers to have the same experience at any Banner facility they choose to visit. By maximizing CBORD tools and information available to the user, POSC created an opportunity to use more skilled entry level staff to handle tasks, resulting in cost savings across the organization and additional career pathing opportunities for employees.
The Above & Beyond Award goes to an individual who has been working with CBORD to develop new products or has creatively applied CBORD solutions for the benefit of the larger user community. The winner is:
Shaun Kavanagh, Lead Information Technologist, University of Rhode Island
Shaun Kavanagh has been a CBORD user as part of the University of Rhode Island team for more than two decades. Throughout the years Shaun has maintained a close relationship with CBORD support, and he has shared his knowledge and experience whenever called upon. During the upgrade from Odyssey PCSTM to Odyssey DirectTM, Shaun saw opportunities that made a significant impact on their bottom line. Shaun was also instrumental in integrating CBORD GETTM with the URI mobile app, helping their customers be more productive and easing administrative overhead.
“As is the case every year, we had a robust list of innovative and successful organizations as nominees,” said Jim Hoefflin, CBORD President. “It is an honor to work with all of them. The final group of esteemed winners represents the best of the best, and we are proud to be associated with their successes.”
Winners will be honored at the Excellence Awards Dinner on Monday, October 8 during the 39th annual CBORD User Group Conference.
